Careers at Emerson Financial Group

Help families protect what matters, with a team behind you.

We're growing and looking for licensed life insurance agents, and people working toward a license, who want to do this work the right way: plain talk, honest trade-offs, and no pressure on clients.

Why join us

A small agency that invests in its agents.

You'll be part of a team, not a number on a leaderboard. Here's what you can expect.

1

Training and mentorship

Learn products, needs analysis, underwriting, and the application process from agents who do it every week. You'll have a mentor to call when a case gets tricky.

2

Remote and multi-state

Work from home on a schedule you set. As you grow, we'll help you add non-resident licenses so you can serve clients in more states.

3

Multiple carriers

Independent access to several carriers through our agency contracts, subject to each carrier's appointment approval, so you can fit the policy to the client.

4

Compliance first

We teach clear disclosures and ethical sales from day one. It protects your clients, your license, and your reputation.

5

Help getting licensed

New to insurance? We'll point you to pre-licensing courses, explain the state exam, and walk you through background checks and appointments.

6

Straight answers about costs

Licensing fees, E&O coverage, and lead programs cost money. We'll lay out every cost before you commit, in writing.

Training

What you'll learn.

  • Term, final expense, IUL, and mortgage protection basics, including their downsides
  • How to run a needs analysis and size coverage honestly
  • How carrier underwriting works and how to set expectations
  • Phone and video appointments, applications, and follow-up
  • Advertising, call/text consent, and replacement rules for your states
Who's a fit

You'll do well here if you…

  • Hold a life license, or are ready to earn one
  • Are coachable and follow a proven process
  • Enjoy talking with people and explaining things simply
  • Can manage your own schedule and show up consistently
  • Put the client's interest first, every time
Good to know: agents are independent contractors paid by commission from the carriers. There's no salary, and results vary widely from agent to agent. We don't make income promises.

FAQ

Questions agents ask us.

Do I need a license to apply?

No. You can apply while you're studying or before you start. You'll need an active life license in your resident state before you can sell or discuss specific policies with clients.

Is this a job or an independent contractor role?

It's an independent contractor role. You're paid commissions by the carriers on policies you write, under the terms of your contract. There's no salary or hourly pay.

Are there costs to get started?

Usually, yes. Common costs include pre-licensing courses, state exam and license fees, a background check, and errors & omissions (E&O) insurance. Lead programs are optional and cost extra. We'll go over all of it on your intro call before you commit to anything.

Can I start part time?

Yes. Many agents start part time. Just know that, like any business, results usually track the time and consistency you put in.

Which states can I work in?

You start with your resident state and can add non-resident licenses over time. Tell us which states interest you in the application.

How much can I make?

We don't publish income figures, because results depend on your effort, skill, market, and many other factors. On your intro call we'll walk through how commissions work and share the compensation schedule in writing.

I'm already with another agency or IMO. Can I still apply?

Yes. Let us know your current situation in the form. Carrier release rules vary, and we'll talk through what a move would involve before you make any decision.
